They are confident and on their own!!! yes, this tugs at my heart strings.. but I believe it's God Given that Children grow up and momma's have to learn to let go!!! Vacation, Day 4

Boy, this turned out to be a busy day! Elvin didn't have to work today so he watched the 2 little ones while I took the girls to school, i stayed a bit to see all the kids in their slumber party costumes,, They were all so cute:

Elvin and I worked the rest of the morning in the greenhouse, doctoring plants for my brother, It sure was nice to have Elvin home to help me, I would still be at it if I would have been by myself, Hadassah didn't take really good naps so I was interupting my work avery few minutes to meet her needs,

>A Friend of mine stopped by this afternoon and i spend some time with her and her little girls, by then it was time to hurry and get dinner and get the house cleaned up, And then the girls and I kicked back and watched 7 brides for 7 brothers!! we loved it and I am sure we will watche it again tomorrow night!!!

My Vacation, Day 3

day three of my vacation started out rather Busy, Today was Western day at school for Tina and Staci, Tina decided to dress in traditional western wear, a Denim skirt, plaid shirt and pink cowboy boots.. Staci was an Indian princess ( the costume that made me decide that my sewing machine won't have vacation after all) We wanted to get out the door a few minutes early so that we could go to Beka's house and have her do Staci's face painting! And of course this morning was the Morning that both Mitchell and Hadassah decided to sleep late..Isn't that always how it goes?? So saying a prayer that Mitchell would be in a good mood when he wakes up, I went outdoors to try to find a feather for my Indian princess.. I found one in the barn but it wasn't in real good shape.. my second choice was to go the the chicken coop and see if the chickens had lost any feathers.. nope, no luck there either.. BUT one of the chickens is a beautiful black and white and her wing feathers would be perfect!!!... But how in the world am I gonna catch her without having that cocky old rooster attack me??? Yes I am intimidated by him!! So I hunted down a stick and made sure he knew I was armed and dangerous! I fed the chickens and caught my beauty.. I sure did feel sorry for her when I had to pull soooo hard to get one of those prized feathers, she probably will go on strike and not lay any eggs for a week!! It was all worth it to see the Indian princess's eyes light up and tell me "It's PERFECT Mom!"
I got everyone to school on time and we even had time to have Beka do the face paint, I hung out with the kids for a while, they were all so cute, Cowboys and cowgirls, Indians, and even a 49er!!
While Hadassah took a nap I worked in my greenhouse for a bit, giving my many plants some tenderlovingcare, decided to sew a little something for the girls for Slumber Party day at school tomorrow, Poor sewing machine, no vacation at all.
While Mitchell and Hadassah napped I sat on the recliner planning a birthday party for a dear friend!!! FUN! School dismissed at 1:30 so off to get the girls, to the Chiropractor for all 5 of us, stopped at the grocery store and got a few groceries, and of course to K-Mart for diapers for Hadassah, (Since this is my vacation week I will not start wearing her the cloth diapers!) We had no meltdowns, (a few close calls though) So the shopping was a success!
back home while I took care of the little ones Kristina and Staci brought all the groceries in and put them away!! (NOW THAT is vacation!!) We all sat and read stories and then it was dinner and off to church, After church I worked on a project for Slumber Party Day tomorrow. (Yes the Idea came to me during church!) hate when that happens! maybe I have ADD or ADHD??? maybe With being on vacation My mind isn't active enough and so comes up with things to keep it occupied all by it's self??? see you tomorrow, with pics of SLUMBER PARTY DAY!!

My Vacation day 2

For some reason I have declared this week My Vacation, I am not starting any projects, not going to clean any rooms, I am only going to do regular mommy things. After the hustle and bustle of last week, entertaing family from out of state, and all the cooking and cleaning that I did to impress them.... So I started thinking about the things I have done on my vacation: Yesterday: I did 7 loads of laundry, (2 loads are still in the basket) the rest is put away. I cooked and delivered a meal for a friend that recently moved to the area, went to the local Produce auction and helped my sister by giving her advice on wich flowers to buy and which to pass on, fed my family a nutritious meal for supper...

Tuesday, (today) Slept in, forgot to pack lunches for Tina and Staci, :( delivered the girls to school with Mitchell still in PJs.. ( I refuse to get stressed, I AM ON VACATION!) cleaned up from our rush to get out the door.. started cooking chicken for dinner... played with my babies. the very best part of my day was spending the afternoon with my mommy friends. Put together 2 costumes for Tina and Staci's Western day at school tomorrow.. of course dinner and cleanup too!! This is turning out to be a great vacation Because I am not planning ANYTHING, I am just doing what feels right to do at the moment!!!

Next week I will be back to doing what I need to do: Planning and scheduling for this family of 6!

NO Idea what I am going to do tomorrow......But I do know that We will be eating leftovers.. so I don't even have to plan dinner!!!

Manager or Mommy

I once read somewhere that in a well run hotel things run smoothly, laundry is always done, fresh and clean, meals are delicious, nurishing and on time, the hotel is clean and kept up, people feel warmed, welcomed and relaxed when they enter because it is neat and organized.

who keeps it that way???

The manager!

The same author also pointed out that as queen of my home I also am the manager of my own small hotel! She encouraged us queens/ managers to veiw or homemaking chores as such! So is my laundry always done, and does it always smell freash and clean? Are the meals I serve, nutritous as well as deliscious, and when my family/customers/guests gather around the dining room table, can they expect their meals to be served in a timely fashion? Is my home/hotel neat, clean and organized so that my family/guests feel welcomed and relaxed when they enter after a long day at work or at school?

As I have strived to get organized in the past couple month, And to veiw my housekeeping chores as a way to bless my family I have learned something very important! Yes I CAN run my home like a hotel! I make a wonderful Hotel manager!

BUT

I need to remember that a hotel has a manager a home has a Mommy! I am the Mommy of my home! There are needs in my home that a Manager could never fulfill but a MOMMY can! Is there room in all of this managing my home, to meet the needs of it's tiny guests? EAch day I struggle to find the balance between managing my home and yet focussing more on the little needs that will make an eternal difference. When dinner is on the stove and my house is a wreck with papers, glue, books, tractors, dolls, Laundry is piled high, baby needs to be fed, it is then that I feel the true test of my own strength, will I be Mommy who patiently answers a question of my 8 year old, a question that seem silly and unimportant, will I be Mommy and listen with full attention to my 7 year old as she tell about a frustrating part of her school day, Will I be Mommy and patiently help my 2 year old hook his wagon to the tractor for the 100th time that day, will I be Mommy and lovingly pick up baby and meet her needs as well?

OR

Will I be the Manager and start dictating chores to my daughters and tell them their stories and questions have to wait until supper/break time. Will I be the manager and tell my 2 year old to put his tractors away on the shelf NOW! Will I be the manager and glance at the clock and tell my 5 week old baby that it isn't 'time' for her to eat yet, and let her fuss in her swing?

Lord, you know my heart, you know what my desires are. help me to meet the needs of those that you have placed in my care, help me to meet those needs with your spirit of patience and love. and please tell me if it's possible to be both manager and mommy and help me to find the perfect bablance. thank you!

7 things you may not know about me! You have been tagged!

Read at your own risk!

1.My sister and I were painting some old chairs for mom, we were probably 9 & 11 yaers old. we ended up chasing each other with paint brushes filled with paint. IT WAS MY SIS WHO STARTED IT!! but I got the blame and as a punishment I had to muck out the three horse stalls in the barn. That was the best punishment I ever got!! because I loved spending time with my pony! Mom never punished me with that chore again! ???

2. My beautiful, well behaved 8 year old daughter, Kristina, was a parents nightmare at age 2 &1/2.. I woke up one morning knowing that there was more to motherhood than, struggling to LOVE a 2 & 1/2 year old all day! And so began my library of child training books..

3.I Love my children so much that sometimes I want to run away from them.

4. When my husband eats an unhealthy snack befor bed I almost always join him!!! GULP!!

5. I still dream about the magic of Ice skating under a full moon on a sparkling winter night holding hands with boys.. Thats when Romance became real to me... ahhh to be 14 and imagine myself in Love...

6. I tell my husband what to get me for gifts.. Yes I tell him where, what, and how..

7.It's 10:00 pm and I am gonna eat a handful of hershey kisses!!! Yummy!!!
